At Decoded, we are all about transparency, excellence and integrity. That’s why we would like to share with you the most recent feedback from our Learner Satisfaction Survey and how we have used this feedback.

You said: There is a lack of signposting for beginner, medium and advanced learners.

The Learning Experience Design (LXD) team has standardised signposting of resources across the online content, indicating which external resources and references are essential, optional support or optional stretch. This also includes estimated read and watch times. We are currently implementing these into the Workshop Recaps as well.

You’ll notice that we link to external sources throughout our Introduction and Online Practice content. At the end of each section, we’ll repeat those links to summarise everything we’ve referenced along the way, as well as signposting whether they are essential, optional support or optional stretch if you’re looking to really advance your knowledge beyond the basics.

The online world presents everyone with many opportunities, yet also possess risks and challenges. That’s never been more apparent than during the pandemic, throughout which many people are spending more and more time online.

As an education provider, Decoded has a role in helping you stay safe and protected from harm online. Our June newsletter highlighted safeguarding online. This issue, we’ll take a look at basic internet safety and how to protect both your own and your organisation’s data.

As a team, we have always believed in the positive power of learning. We have always believed in the positive power of technology – to bring people together, to empower those people, and to enable them to create a positive impact in the world.

In 2020, this informed Decoded’s ongoing response to COVID-19 as a business. It also governed our response to the UK leaving the EU, and meant we were well prepared for several outcomes.

The UK left the EU in January 2020 and the transitional period which has limited disruption so far is due to end on 31 December 2020. There is uncertainty about the future relationship between the UK and the EU and it has been a significant area of focus for continuity planning for Decoded over the last 18 months.

Information, in the wrong hands, can be damaging to one’s livelihood. But in an age where personal data is being gathered at unprecedented rates, what can we really do?

Many data protection laws in place are underpinned by human rights laws — specifically, Article 8 of the Human Rights Convention. Within the European Union, this is doubly reinforced by rules set in place by the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. The European-wide 2018 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — which replaced the UK Data Protection Act (1998) — upholds these rights regarding access, use, and disposal of personal data. Due to the strong laws in place by these agencies, Europe currently leads the world in data protection.
